What is a Demat Account?

In our last blog, we talked about how new investors normally start investing in stock markets by applying in IPOs. In the same article, we also talked about the steps /process that was required to apply for IPOs.

And one of the first steps was to open a demat account at a Merchant Banker. At Nabil Investment, we take pride in giving the best service to our demat account clients. Not only is our demat account fully online, you can also open one by applying with us online.

In this blog, we will detail the steps to open the Demat account online at Nabil Investment. But, before that let’s dive into some of the details.

What is a Demat Account?

Similar to a bank account where you put your money for saving and transacting, a Demat account is needed to keep your stocks (shares) and to transact them. As per the regulation of SEBON and CDSC, it is mandatory to have a demat account to transact (buying, selling and applying for IPO/FPO, etc) in the stock market.

Hence, if you want to invest in stock markets, you will need to open a Demat Account.
